The Lost Concert - a Jazz story, serialized
Series produced by Robin Valk
An eight part series, tracing the 25 year career of Chris Bowden, one of the UK's finest Jazz sax players. It covers his initial promise, his recruitment into 90s Acid Jazz bands, sensational highs, deep deep lows - and a long, painful recovery from those lows. The series is built around a terrific recording of a legendary live concert that, up until the original programme and series versions were made, had not been heard for a decade.
This series is a short-form re-working of a two hour documentary, also available on PRX. 'Chris Bowden: The Lost Concert' was first broadcast on Brum Radio (www.brumradio.com) in the UK. It attracted a lot of interest and generated exceptional listen-again figures for the station.
Several of Brum Radio's UK sister stations requested a serialized version, for easier inclusion in their output. This series is the result, and is updated with excerpts from Chris Bowden's new album, 'Unlikely Being'.
Note: the episodes vary in length, from 11 to 28 minutes. This is driven by the content, especially the sections taken from the concert recording.
