The Song Show

The Song Show is a show about, uh, songs! Each week your host Brick Briscoe chooses a topic, such as "great break up songs" or "songs about cities" and ties the subject together with songs from all genres. Plus each week Brick has a guest who comes on and talks about the important songs in their lives. Packed with facts, rumors, a bit of history and lots of great music, The Song Show is all about... Songs.

The development of The Song Show stems from many things, not the least being Briscoe’s thirst for learning about music. Plus, his desire and ability to “go there” in many ways may be the key. During the year and a half that The Song Show has been in existence, Briscoe has visited, New York, Chicago, Nashville and numerous music festivals to seek out his guests and to learn about the common themes in the songs in our lives. In addition, Briscoe has been the host of many live concerts, as well as recorded several for broadcast only on The Song Show. He launches The Song Show Concert Series this Spring.

Brick Briscoe is a working musician and filmmaker who has spent most of his life chasing music around the USA. He approaches the show from the standpoint of a fan first, but uses his own experiences to illustrate stories told via the songs he chooses.

The show pulls on material as diverse as Cole Porter, Thelonious Monk, Sharon Van Etten, Trisha Yearwood, Peggy Lee and The Clash. The purpose is to show that great songs can play well together, no matter where and when they were written.
