Journeys to Love writer/storytellers Scotte and Toni Burns reveal tales of deep and abiding love in American history, travels, and culture.

Martin Luther King said of love, "When I speak of love, I am not speaking of some sentimental and weak response. I am not speaking of that force which is just emotional bosh. I am speaking of that force which all of the great religions have seen as the supreme unifying principle of life. Love is somehow the key that unlocks the door which leads to ultimate reality."

But what, exactly, IS love? And how can it unlock that reality Dr. King offered?

A middle-aged, South Dakota biker couple looking for the answers might seem out of place in a Buddhist temple in New York, in Salt Lake City’s gay pride parade, the Baptist churches of Alabama, among the Amish of Pennsylvania, in a Colorado prison hospice, on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation, the streets of East Detroit, or in the St. Louis Ballet. Yet, Journeys to Love founders Scotte and Toni Burns have ridden out to them all in a quest to discover love and its human connections across our changing nation. Their videos and writings, founded in their own love story, offer hope, inspiration, and devotion to the idea that while the faces of America are changing, those faces needn't turn away from one another until we all become strangers in our own land! With humor, intellect, positivity, and travel, they destroy stereotypes while discovering the love good in people and cultures across America, reconnecting diverse people and communities through stories of who, where, what, and how we all love!

From small towns to mountain and coastal communities to reservations, college campuses, and truck stops; from big city streets to prisons, farms, suburbs, and US military bases, Scotte and Toni dive deep into love in American history, society, and culture, asking Americans of every color, faith, and age about the meaning of love in their lives. Their tales from the heart of America reveal that the greatest love stories aren’t just romantic love, they’re also loves of community, of a sense of purpose, the places we call home, and of the American story itself.

As one Native American storyteller shared, we find knowledge by being told what something means - but through storytelling, we find our own meanings, and in that way, we discover the answers we seek in life. And through story, we come full circle to those first two questions: What is love and how does is unlock that ultimate reality we all share? Scotte and Toni’s podcast, with stories from their travels and insight into the paths that love takes across America is an enlightening, often funny, and always uplifting place to begin that quest!
