2013-06-01_15 The San Jose Jazz Summer Fest 2014 celebrated 25 years with hundreds of performers, seven venues over four days.  This 2 hour Highlights Show showcases an ecclectic mix of performances indicitive of the San Francisco/Silicon Valley scene and the far reach of jazz.  Hosted by KCSM's Alisa Clancy, it contains performances by Donald Harrison and Nouveau Swing with an exceptionally soulful singer Kevin Harris, Denise Perrier with guest Houston Person, two marvelous Hammond B-3 Players from Japan, Midori Ono and Aksuko Hasimoto, Monty Alexander in great form, veteran trumpeter Jerry Gonzalez and the Fort Apache Reunion with Larry Willis and Jeff Tain Watts.  Singer Nicole Henry with a full orchestra, The Hot Club of Detroit, the intoxicating  middle-eastern-indian blend of The Gypsy All Stars, the wild on-stage choreography of San Jose Taiko and innovative computer/turntablists The Bangerz

Full length radio documentary on jazz pianist and composer Vince Guaraldi documenting his life through the voices of Guaraldi biographer Derrick Bang and the many musicians, writers, and historians that crossed his path between the 1940's through the '70's in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Guaraldi_1__small Jazz pianist and composer Vince Guaraldi was a mainstay in the San Francisco Bay Area from the 1950's through 70's. The composer of the hit, Cast Your Fate to the Wind and music for the Peanuts shows had a humorous, profound, and rather tragic story dying at the age of forty seven. Hear Guaraldi's story woven together with music and interviews with Guaraldi biographer Derrick Bang, musicians Eddie Duran, Colin Bailey, Larry Vuckovich, Dean Reilly, Richard Hadlock, and Peanuts co-creator Lee Mendelson.  It's an original work written and narrated by Alisa Clancy, longtime audio producer, Program Director and Morning Drive time host at The Bay Area's Jazz Station, KCSM.
