A profile of Dr. Heather Robertson, the head veterinarian at the Nashville Zoo, who helped design a new center that allows the public to watch all aspects of animal care.

Windows_small Dr. Heather Robertson already had a big job as Director of Veterinary Services at the Nashville Zoo, but now every move she makes can be scrutinized by the public. The 23,000 square foot veterinary facility, which opened in March 2019, has multi-level viewing windows that allow the public to watch Dr. Robertson and her all-female team doing physical exams, surgeries, and neonatal care. The idea is to promote conservation by showing the public how much effort the zoo puts into animal welfare and to inspire a young generation to consider conservation-related careers.
